John Wayne Frey

John Wayne Frey, 75, of Berrien Springs, died Friday, June 22, 2018, at his home, after several years battling Alzheimer’s. With his family by his side, he passed peacefully from this life into everlasting life, and into the unveiled presence of his Heavenly Father.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Mapleview Free Methodist Church, 1831 Niles-Buchanan Road, Niles, Michigan, where John was an active member and a faithful follower of Christ. Pastor Greg Rensberry will officiate. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs. Friends are invited to visit from 6–8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, and also from 10–11 a.m. Friday at the church. John was born July 26, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Wayne Lee and Clara Elva (Paolini) Frey. He earned his Associate’s degree, plus an additional two years at Ohio State where he studied metallurgical engineering. John had a life-long love of music, books, math and science, especially astronomy. He resided in Berrien Springs, Michgian, for the past 46 years, coming from Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Louise Foy Frey, MD, and their family: Joy Ellen Frey (Adam Troy) McDaniel and their children: Michael Spencer McDaniel and his fiancee’ Mercedes Rederick, and Jeffrey Scott McDaniel; Jeanette Elizabeth Frey (Donald Ray) Isaac; Judith Elaine Frey; Joann Louise Frey (Jose Luis) Carrillo and their children: Louisa Francisca, Giovanni Elias, and Hanna Yamilet Carrillo; James Wayne Frey and his wife Soñia Paniagua Nuñez; John Paul (Chandra Joy Kitchen) Frey; Jill Marie Frey; and his brother, G. Theodore “Ted” Frey.

John was preceded in death by his and Jan’s unborn child; his parents, Wayne and Clara; and a brother, Stanley August Frey.
