Calvin T. Walker

March 14, 1933 — November 17, 2016

Calvin T. Walker (Doc, Pops, Pop Pop, Granddad, Daddy), 83, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2016 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI after a long struggle with Diabetes and Renal Failure.

Calvin was born on March 14, 1933 in New Haven, CT to Mary Lou Trenton and Thomas Walker. He is the 7th child, youngest son, born out of 12 children.

As a youngster, he loved to have fun with his siblings and friends. When he grew up, he had to join the US Army in 1953 at the age of 20. He served for two years in the Korean War in the 1st Surgical Hospital as a Med Corpsman. Shortly after leaving the service, he got married and had three sons, Jonathan, Barth and Jeffrey. That marriage dissolved and years later he married again and had two daughters, Kristine and Dana. He had lived in several states and made many lifetime friends. He loved them all. He worked most of his life in security and enjoyed every minute of it. In 1987 he decided to retire.

Calvin was the life of the party everywhere he went and would want us to remember him in that manner. He loved to give nicknames to EVERYONE he came in contact with. So if you have a nickname, know you were loved. And if you didn’t know your nickname, guarantee, he had one for you. He was a lover of gospel music, could sing a melodic baritone and bass, directed choirs and groups; and he especially loved singing with the family. Calvin was a fun, loving man who had a love for God, life, sports, his family, and his children!

He will be sorely missed by many and we look forward to that great, getting up morning, when Jesus comes to resurrect him and many others and take us all home to be with Him. One of his favorite songs was “I Don’t Mind Waiting” by Juanita Bynum. He wanted us to sing it with him every day for the last few months of his life.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kristine Fraser (Pastor Gordon) and Dana Willis; three sons, Jonathan Walker (Beth), Barth Walker (Rosie), and Jeffrey Walker. He also leaves: five sisters, Mary Traynham, Barbara Bason, Betty Walker, Carolyn Chambers, Margo Wilson-Butcher; a brother, Kenneth Walker (Emma); a special nephew, Andre Walker; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

He is predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Ruth Walker, Jean Walker, Sonia Walker; and two brothers, Ernest Walker and Raymond “Chico” Walker; three nephews and a niece.

While we know his angel will mark his spot where he will lay to rest until the Lord comes, we still say, “EVEN SO, COME LORD JESUS!”
