Cleavon Ramsey

Mr. Cleavon Ramsey was born October 15, 1955 in Electric Mills, Mississippi, to Minor C. Ramsey, Sr. and Lottie Patterson Ramsey. He was the seventh of their eight children.

The family later relocated to Hammond, Louisiana. After graduating high school and studying culinary in Louisiana, Cleavon relocated to Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he spent his adult life. He was known for his caring personality and independence and love of cooking.

Cleavon was preceded in death by both parents: Lottie and Minor C. Ramsey, Sr.; his twin brother, Clifton Ramsey; sisters, Ella Ramsey Vanterpool (Donald) and Luberta Smoot; and brother, Geney Ramsey.

He leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Lolita R. Whitfield and Mattie R. Thomas of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Minor C. Ramsey, Jr. (Marilyn) of Amite, LA, Artie E. Ramsey of Fishers, IN and Freeman W. Ramsey of Hammond, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Also dear to him were the Holder Family, and George and Julie Haldar.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bodka Valley Cemetery, Scooba, MS 39358.
