Donna Louise Layman, 66, of Berrien Springs--a caring, thoughtful, giving, and kind mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend--passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 29, 2021.
Donna was born on June 12, 1954 to Donald and Mary Ellen Sprung. She was a lifelong resident of Berrien Springs, graduating from Berrien Springs High School in 1972. She then attended Davenport College of Business. Donna retired from Penrod Hiawatha in Berrien Center in 2019 after working there for over 20 years. Prior to that, she worked as a teller at Old Kent Bank in Berrien Springs.
Donna loved spending time with her daughters and their families. Her grandsons were, without a doubt, the light of her life. She also enjoyed reading, summers at the pool, traveling to visit friends and family, and getting together with her brothers and their families for holidays, celebrations, or simply dinner together.
Survivors include daughters Sarah (Doug) O’Dell and Laura (Chad) Tidey; grandsons Alexander & Darrin O’Dell and Everett & Eli Tidey; brothers Paul (Barbara) Sprung, David (Heike) Sprung, and John (Sheila) Sprung; beloved nephews & niece; and ex-husband Dave C. Layman.
A private service was held at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, and a private burial will take place at a later date. Messages and memories for the family may be shared online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
Memorial donations in her name may be given to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan.
