Duane C. Fancher

September 18, 1941 — April 25, 2021

Duane Cole Fancher was born September 18, 1941 in Grand Ledge, Michigan and passed away peacefully at daughter Jen’s home in Ukiah, California, April 25, 2021 with his wife Carol, and Jen at his side. Duane and Carol have lived the past 10 years with Jen.

Duane and Carol were high school sweethearts and married August 4, 1963. They lived in Berrien Springs until 2011 when they moved to Northern California to live with Jen and her German Shepard, Layla. Duane worked in printing and lawn care and along with Carol owned and operated Redwood Manor Elderly Care Home in Berrien Springs for 32 years.

Duane was a life-long Seventh-day Adventist and his faith was very important to him. He was known for being a hard worker, reading his Bible, his baritone singing voice, being a life-long Detroit Tiger fan, his lawn work and beautiful flower beds, and his sense of humor.

Throughout his life Duane enjoyed fishing with his son Keefer, birding, puzzles, rock collecting, being outdoors and observing nature, collecting baseball caps & hubcaps, and his special friendship with his grand dog, Layla.

While he was still able Duane also enjoyed travelling to places such as the 1976 Montreal Olympics, Hawaii, Bahamas, Key West, the Philippines, Spring Training in Florida, Alaska, and a train trip to Nova Scotia and across Canada.

Duane is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Carol Wotring Fancher; son, Keefer Kane (a.k.a. Doug Fancher); daughter, Jen Fancher Collins; son, Ted (Diana) Collins; and brother, Chuck (Sandy) Fancher.

Duane was preceded in death by his and Carol’s daughter, Julie Fancher. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Vera Fancher, and his sister, Virginia Fancher Hinckley.

Eversole Mortuary in Ukiah and the Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, Michigan assisted the Fancher Family. Duane and Carol’s daughter, Pastor Jen Collins, presided over his graveside service at Rosehill Cemetery, Berrien Springs, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Duane’s honor to the music ministry of The United Church of Cloverdale, in Cloverdale, California where Jen is the pastor. The church website is: uccloverdale.org
