Harry William Reeves

Harry William Reeves, 97, of Niles, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.



A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 27, with military rites immediately following, at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, where friends may visit beginning at 1:30 p.m.  Private inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs.  Online messages for the family may be left at www.allredfuneralhome.com.  Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital or to Berrien Springs American Legion Stover-Wagner Post 85, of which he was a member.



Harry was born May 30, 1920, in Grand Haven, Michigan, the son of Harry A. and Wilhelmina (Zimmerman) Reeves.  He was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School Class of 1939.  He served his country with the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer, and was a veteran of World War II.  Harry was also a 32nd Degree Mason.  His leisure enjoyments included carpentry work, fishing and bowling.



Survivors include his wife, Norma, whom he married November 20, 1984; sons: William (Carolyn) Reeves of Niles, Richard (Luanne) Reeves of Berrien Springs, Allen (Sue) Hathcoat of Fennville, Gary (Cheryl) Hathcoat of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; daughters: Terry Cummings of Niles and Brenda Anderson of Novi; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Louise Peebles of Livermore, California.



Harry was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; his second wife, Betty; two children: Charlene Johnson and Nannette Cummings; and a sister, Eilene Cagle.
