Janie Lee Whisenant

Janie L. Whisenant, 73, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at her home in Buchanan.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, with burial following in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at the funeral home, and to share memories online at www.allredfuneralhome.com.

Janie was born August 28, 1944, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Ambrose “Sam” and Jean (Eagle) Holmes. She was a familiar face in Berrien Springs, where she had worked at Schrader’s Supermarket and later as a salesclerk in the paint department of the Village Do-It-Best Hardware store. Janie enjoyed people and always had a ready smile to brighten someone’s day. In her leisure time, she loved gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Jbouri; two brothers, David (Cathy) Holmes and Dennis (Gail) Holmes; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
