Linda Lou Hinchman

June 24, 1943 — August 15, 2021

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Linda Lou Hinchman passed from this life to Glory.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dennis L. Hinchman; one brother, George (Judy) Defoe of West Virginia. She was a loving mother to a daughter, Susan (Dwayne) Riffe of Kentucky; and two sons: Kevin (Terese) Hinchman of California and Timothy (Lisa) Hinchman of Indiana. She was the proud Mamaw of five granddaughters: Charlotte, Francesca, Elizabeth, Nora and Tove; great-grandmother of Ian, Ana and Julian. Linda had numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was also Mommy to her fur baby, CoCo.

Linda was born June 24, 1943 in Williamson, West Virginia, to John and Victoria (Snow) Defoe. She was raised in West Virginia and was proud to tell stories of how she grew up in a little house next to the railroad tracks in the small coal mining town of Chattaroy.

She had many passions in life. She enjoyed camping (many stories to be told there). She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She always looked forward to her late night chats helping her daughter, Susan, with homework. She had a deep love for people and always saw the best in everyone. She was strong in her faith and faithful in her political views (some of you know this very well). She had a contagious laugh and would laugh until she cried. She loved her family very much and everyone knew that THEY were her favorite.

In the latter stages of Linda’s journey, she was lovingly cared for by her nieces, Ellen McKinney and Betty (Ross) Yahr and daughter-in-law, Lisa. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, August 23, at 2 p.m. at Arden Methodist Church, 6891 M-139, Berrien Springs. Please join us in wearing one of Linda’s favorites – purple or leopard print.
