Margaret 'Peggy' Kroncke

July 5, 1927 — January 6, 2017

Margaret Evelyn “Peggy” Kroncke, former longtime resident of Berrien Springs, passed away on January 6, 2017 in Temecula, California at the age of 89.

Peggy was born on July 5, 1927 in Newburgh, New York to Albert and Margaret Wright.  She was raised in the greater New York area where she attended school through her high school graduation.  Peggy then attended Washington Missionary College in Takoma Park, Maryland where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Speech in 1949.  There she met her future husband, John Andrew Kroncke, and they were married on September 10, 1950.

Peggy went on to a prolific career, first as an elementary and junior high school teacher in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Michigan, where she taught English to hundreds of students, and later she went on to become a university administrator at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan where she served for a decade as Director of Freshman Education and Vice President for Student Affairs.

Along with her teaching career, Peggy also served for 40 years alongside her husband, Pastor John A. Kroncke, as they ministered to congregations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Michigan.  Peggy was beloved by her students and church members throughout her lifetime and was cherished by her family as a loving wife, mother of two boys, and grandmother.  Peggy was a woman of many talents and she enjoyed artistic endeavors such as china painting, knitting, and singing in the church choir.

Peggy spent her retirement years along with her husband in Palm Beach County, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; and finally in Temecula, California.

Peggy was pre-deceased by her husband in 2012 and her son, Arthur J. Kroncke in 2013.

She is survived by her son, John Kroncke, Jr. of Temecula, California; her grandson, Johnathan Kroncke, of Pasadena, California; and her daughter-in-law, Lavonne Kroncke of Berrien Springs, Michigan.

Peggy will be buried alongside her beloved husband, Pastor John Kroncke, in Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs, Michigan.  A service will be held at a later date.  Online messages for the family may be left at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
