Mary Louise Potter

Mary Lou Potter was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 29, 1928.  Mary Lou died at her Benton Harbor home on June 26, 2016. She married Earl Amos Potter in 1959. He preceded her in death in 2012. Mary is survived by her four children: Philip Potter, Laura Weidner, Timothy Potter, Alice Potter; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren (with the loss of one precious great-grandchild).

Mary received her Masters of Education from Andrews University. She was a substitute teacher in Berrien County and a full-time teacher in Louisiana. Mary was an avid seamstress and cook, and she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren life skills. One of her favorite sayings was “Chocolate cures anything”. Two of her favorite hymns were “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs.  Online messages for her family may be left at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
