R. Frances White

R. Frances White, 95, lifetime resident of Berrien Springs, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at Woodland Terrace of Longmeadow in Niles.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Berrien Springs United Methodist Church, where friends may visit beginning one hour before service. A luncheon will follow the service, after which a graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Frances was born June 23, 1924, in Berrien Springs, the daughter of Perley and Ruth (Feather) Porter. She married Gene White on March 18, 1949, in Berrien Springs. She was a member of the Rolling Shamrocks Camping Club; the Beta Gamma Epsilon Sorority, Alpha Ki Chapter; the Berrien County Quilters; and the American Legion Auxiliary, Stover-Wagner Post 85. She was manager and co-owner with her sister of the Fabric-N-Yarn Shop in Berrien Springs for several years.

Survivors include her son, Gregory (Mardi) White of Kalamazoo; grandchildren: Brad (Tamara) White of Georgia and Geoff (Casey) White of Oregon; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her daughter, Margene Riley; her sister, Peggy Layman; and her brother, Gene Porter.
