Arnold Sinonge Dube of Berrien Springs, a loving husband and father of two, died unexpectedly after a brief illness. He was admitted to Spectrum Health Lakeland in St. Joseph on Tuesday, May 28, and died Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2020. He was 48 years old.
He was born March 22, 1972, in Mzuzu, Malawi.
His early education was at Katoto Primary School, then he went to Lunjika Secondary School 1989-1993. It was at Lunjika that he met the love of his life, Mary, and they were married on November 30, 1997 in Mzuzu. To their union, God blessed them with two children: Sithembile, their daughter who is a sophomore at Central Michigan University; and their son, Dumisani, who goes to Berrien Springs High School.
Before coming to the United States to further his education as a gospel minister, he worked as an accounting clerk; in 1996 he felt called to ministry. He graduated from Malawi Adventist University with a Ministerial Diploma in November 1999. Then he worked as a district Pastor for several churches.
In May 2009 he came to the Andrews University Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, where he earned an M.Div. degree in 2017 and was currently working on a second Master’s degree. While in the Seminary, Arnold distinguished himself as an able leader and organizer. His leadership in Pan African Club of Andrews University and local church ministry at the Michiana Malawi SDA Church in Niles, Michigan was greatly admired and appreciated.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Sithembile; a son, Dumisani; his mother, Irene Mbizi, and his brother, Moses Dube, both of Mzuzu, Malawi, Africa; and a cousin, Tapiwa Mbizi of Niles, Michigan. He will always be cherished and remembered by his family as a family man who loved his wife and children.
