Donna Marie MacMillan, age 99, of Eau Claire, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, of natural causes. She was born on March 10, 1927, in Defiance, Ohio, to the late Harman and Bertha (Devault) Heidepriem.
Donna lived a long and meaningful life marked by kindness, love, and gentleness. She was the kind of woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her, and she will be remembered for the warmth she shared so freely with family and friends. Her life was centered on the people she loved most, and she found her greatest joy in being a mother and in watching her family grow through the years.
Donna graduated from Defiance, OH high school then moved to Toledo, OH where she married Michael Marko Sr. and started her career in retail She also taught as a special needs teacher for several years. Through her work, she met others with patience and grace, and she carried herself with the same steady and dependable spirit in every season of her life. She took pride in being helpful and courteous, and those who knew her appreciated her quiet strength and genuine nature.
She loved the tropical beauty of Hawaii and the excitement of a great casino. Above all else, Donna cherished her role as a mother. She loved raising her one and only son, Mike, and devoted herself to his care and happiness. She was especially proud of the man he became and took great pleasure in being part of his life. Donna also found deep happiness in watching her son perform as a drummer in various bands, a joy that brought her many memorable moments and lasting pride.
Donna married Robert MacMillan, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harman and Bertha Heidepriem. She is survived by her son, Mike (Stephanie) Marko of Eau Claire, Michigan; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and several siblings. Her family was an important part of her life, and she treasured the bonds she shared with them throughout the years.
Donna enjoyed a variety of simple pleasures that made her life rich and full. She loved traveling and seeing new places, was an avid movie fan (especially westerns) and she enjoyed spending time watching animal documentaries as well as game shows. Among her favorites was The Price Is Right, which she watched with enthusiasm and delight. These moments of entertainment brought her happiness and reflected her appreciation for the familiar joys of everyday life.
In keeping with Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will remember her privately.
