Dorothy Marie (Stacey) Snyder, Metzger, a pillar of warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Born on October 31, 1931, in the vibrant city of La Paz, Bolivia, Dorothy's life was a tapestry of love, compassion, and dedicated service.
Dorothy was a beacon of light to her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, George Stacey and Mary Lauretta (McComas) Stacey, and by her caring husbands, Tedd Snyder and Arthur Metzger and her son Donald Snyder. Her radiant spirit lives on through her adored children: Meredith Snyder, Martha Rentfro, and Loretta Howell. Her legacy of love stretches across generations, including seven cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will continue to honor her memory.
A sister to Edward Stacey and Laurene Cleveland, Dorothy's familial bonds were a source of great joy and support throughout her life. She held her siblings close to her heart, and her role as a loving sister was played with the same grace and dedication she applied to every aspect of her life.
Dorothy embraced her calling to help others through her accomplished career in nursing, having earned her Bachelor's degree from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her hands and heart worked in unison to bring healing and comfort to countless individuals. Her love extended beyond her professional life, as she involved herself in the community, sharing generously with those around her.
A devout Christian, Dorothy's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. It guided her actions and gave her the strength to meet life's challenges with resilience and grace. She cultivated a life rich in simple pleasures: tending to her garden, sewing clothes for her beloved children, bird watching, and expressing her artistic side through beautiful oil paintings and sketches. Music filled her home and heart, reflecting the melodic rhythm of her life.
Described by those who knew her best as loving, kind, and generous, Dorothy Marie Metzger's essence was one of perpetual giving. To have known her was to have experienced love in its purest form, and while she will be deeply missed, the beauty of her influence will continue to bloom like the flowers she so tenderly nurtured in her garden. Her passing is not just a loss but a moment to reflect on the grace and beauty she brought into this world, ensuring that her memory will be treasured for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy’s honor and memory to the Worthy Student Fund at Niles Adventist School.
