Gail Vallieres

March 13, 1938 — May 12, 2025

Berrien Springs

J. Gail (Vanick) Vallieres (87), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Berrien Springs, MI. She was born on March 13, 1938, in Chicago, IL, to William and Grace (Boyd) Vanick. Gail was a tender, kind-hearted lady, and her memory will be cherished forever.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Kathy and Bill, and her beloved husband, R. Wayne Vallieres. Gail met Wayne while attending nursing school. They were married on January 3, 1960, in Hinsdale, IL, and celebrated 41 years together. Their love and faith in Jesus Christ were central in their marriage. They enjoyed several years of travel and a variety of activities with family and dear friends. Years later, Gail returned to her career and enjoyed her work with children as school nurse for Blossomland School.

Gail is survived by her children: Shelly Erhard (Jamie) of Berrien Springs, MI, and Scott Vallieres (Shari) of Ormond Beach, FL. Her legacy lives on through her treasured grandchildren: Lindsey Olsen (Eric), Ashley Vallieres, Leslie Solakis (Andi), Alyssa Vallieres, Jordan Vallieres (Kaitlin), Lauren Mathis (Tyler). She was also blessed with 6 great-grandchildren who knew her as Grandma Gigi. Gail’s family meant everything to her, and she delighted in every moment shared with them.

Gail was a long-time member of the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she served as a deaconess and volunteer. She enjoyed the companionship of fellow widows; their camaraderie grew from shared experiences of love and loss. To know Gail was to experience the warmth of her loving and kind presence, gentle demeanor, and deep faith. She was a devoted prayer warrior. As we say our earthly goodbyes, we give thanks for the blessing of her life and hold fast to the hope of a joyful reunion to come.
