George Donald Mcrae

May 30, 1932 — July 28, 2017

George Donald McRae, 85, passed away at his home in Bridgman on the morning of July 28, 2017.

George spent many of his days singing to make his family smile. McRae told stories of his time in the Air Force and of his many travels. He served a proud and dedicated career with Clark Equipment Company. George was passionate about his Scottish heritage and had dreams of seeing his family castles in Scotland.

McRae was a man of wit, hilarity, and wisdom. He baffled his family with knowing every answer to Jeopardy. George enjoyed Michigan college sports, staying up to date on politics, and spending time with his family. He also kept his family in line by not allowing any wasting of the flashlight batteries and conserving the use or abuse of his face tissues.

McRae is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane. He is also survived by his sister, Doris (Hulse); his daughter, Michelle; his grandchildren: Kimberly, Laura, Madison, and Autumn; as well as his great-grandchildren: Macie, Ryan, Mia, George (his namesake), Marley, Beau and Jack.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne; and his daughter, Marie.

The family has planned a Celebration of Life at Warren Dune Estates on Wednesday, August 2, from 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to his family, c/o his wife, Jane McRae. Online messages may be left at www.allredfuneralhome.com.
