Gerald Buck, 73, was born December 15, 1949, in Bay City, MI to Joyce Marie and Enoch David Buck. He entered into his rest on November 8, 2023 in Bridgman, MI.
His step-dad, Edwin Huyck, was a welder and a lumberjack. His mother was a homemaker.
Gerald enlisted in the Army in January 1967, discharged in December 1969, remaining in the reserves until January 1973. Gerald married Kathy Ann Bedford on October 20, 1973. Together, they raised 3 daughters.
He was a deacon in the Tawas City Seventh-day Adventist Church, often filling in for the pastor when he was unable to preach at sister churches in the area. His life revolved around family, working tirelessly to ensure that they were cared for. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. Early in life, he learned the importance of hard work, and he instilled that same work ethic in his children. He was a man of strong faith and he taught his children the importance of God, family, hard work, and doing what is right. He doted on his grandkids, never hesitating to extol their achievements to anyone who would listen. He loved to read, especially his Bible, or any religion-related books.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (David) Suranyi of Pullman, Michigan, Angela Sonnenburg of Berrien Springs, Michigan, and DeAnna (Daniel) Treat of Waterloo, Indiana; two sisters, Toni (Roger) Weaver of Millbrook, Alabama, and Edwina (William) Mitchell of Bunker Hill, Indiana, two brothers, James (Linda) Huyck of Hale, Michigan, and Randy (Karen) Huyck of Hale, Michigan; several nieces & nephews; six grandchildren, Jesse (Hannah) Street, Amber (Adam) Hearn, David Suranyi II, Jocelyn Suranyi, Danielle Holley, and Andrew Suranyi; one great-grandchild, Anthony Hearn.
