H. Rudy Fitz, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, at the age of 91 in Berrien Center, Michigan. Born on March 28, 1932, in Volhynia, Germany, Rudy was a man of humor, intelligence, and an interesting character who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

Rudy's early years in Germany set the stage for a life of resilience and adaptability. His journey led him to Berrien Center, where he established his roots and built a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication. Rudy's professional life was marked by his skillful hands and keen mind, as he worked in maintenance and honed his craft as a welder. His work not only showcased his technical abilities but also his commitment to excellence and his strong work ethic.

Family was the cornerstone of Rudy's life. He is survived by his loving daughter, Joyce Zielke. Rudy's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Paul Zielke, Nicole Myers, Heidi Adams, Zachary Jewell, Gracie Jewell, and Bryce Jewell, as well as his great-grandchildren, Dalton Duis, Hayden Adams, Alivia Adams, and David Jewell, His siblings, Elfrieda Krebs and Herman Fitz, will hold dear the memories of their brother's wit and wisdom. Rudy's life was enriched by the bonds he shared with his family, and his memory will be treasured in their hearts forever.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Martha Fitz, his son Ron Fitz, his beloved wife, Hildegard Fitz, and his siblings, Bert Fitz, and William Fitz. They have now welcomed him with open arms in a joyful reunion beyond this world.

Those who knew Rudy will remember him for his quick wit, which never failed to elicit smiles and laughter. His intelligence was evident in his problem-solving skills and his ability to engage in thought-provoking conversations. Rudy's interesting tales and experiences added depth and color to the lives of his family and friends.

As we bid farewell to H. Rudy Fitz, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with moments of joy, the warmth of family, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Rudy's memory will live on as a beacon of light and love, guiding those he left behind. His spirit, characterized by humor and brilliance, will continue to inspire and comfort us all.

Memorial contributions can be made in Rudy’s honor to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs.  

A funeral service will be held on Thursday March 14th at Allred Funeral Home from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. The hour before the funeral service, a public visitation will take place from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM.  Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs.
