Harold Wayne Bishop

Harold W. Bishop, 92, of Eau Claire, passed away September 9, 2026, at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI.

Harold was born on December 27, 1933 to Russell and Stella (Atha) Bishop. He grew up in Berrien Center, was a 1953 graduate of Berrien Springs High School. On August 16, 1953, he married Nila Jean Grant. They had four children.

For over 60 years, he owned and operated Harold's Service in Berrien Center, MI. He spent most of his life repairing cars, tractors, and anything else with a tire or motor. Additionally, Harold served as an Eau Claire volunteer firefighter for 25 years and as a Berrien Township trustee for 18 years.

He loved motorcycling, deer camp, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, chopping wood, mushroom hunting, and his many adventures with family and friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nila Jean, his parents, Stella and Russell Bishop; his brother, Larry Bishop Sr. and his granddaughter, Julie Medlin Merideth.

He is survived by his children: Nancy (Dave) Nieset, Jeananne Bishop, Edie (Dave) Zars, and Wayne (Debbie) Bishop; his sister, Charlene (Roger) Bishop; Grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Medlin, Laura (Kevin) Swanson, Melissa (Gabriel) Korn, Diana (Nick) Podkowirow, Jake (Megan) Zars, Josh (Paige) Zars, Ben Kicas, Brian Kicas, Chris (Michelle) Nieset, Nick (Abi) Nieset, and Karma Nieset; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 2 to 4 pm at Love Creek Nature Center, Berrien Center, MI. 

Memorials may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service or a charity of the donor's choice.
