Jeannette Hodge

September 24, 1928 — February 4, 2024

Jeannette Hodge, a beacon of faith and love, entered into rest peacefully on February 4, 2024, at the age of 95 in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Born on September 24, 1928, in Lima, Ohio, she was the cherished daughter of John and Suzanna Roosenberg, both of whom preceded her in death. Jeannette's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her faith, and the pursuit of knowledge.

Jeannette's educational quest culminated in her earning a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Andrews University, reflecting her lifelong dedication to supporting others. Her professional career was a testament to this commitment, as she served with distinction as an administrator at Andrews University in the role of Housing Manager. There, she not only managed facilities but also shaped the lives of countless students through her guidance and mentorship.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jeannette's life was filled with the joy of family. She was the loving wife of the late David E. Hodge, who shared in her journey until his passing. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Rolene Hodge (George) and Ronda Hodge, who both survive her. She was also blessed with Grandchildren: Renee Hallman (Chris), Raeann Long (Scott), & Daniel Stepp (Erin) as well as 4 great grandchildren. Her legacy continues through them, as well as through the numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Jeannette's interests were a mirror of her character. She found great pleasure in the simplicity of puzzles, the warmth of her church community, and the vibrancy of her faith, which was the cornerstone of her existence. Her passion for Adventist education was not merely an interest but a profound belief in the value of integrating faith and learning.

Those who knew Jeannette would describe her as faith-filled, loving, and generous—attributes that she embodied every day of her life. Her generosity of spirit was not confined to her immediate circle but was extended to everyone she encountered, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

As we reflect on Jeannette's life, we are reminded of the depth of her impact on her family, her church, and her community. Her presence was a source of comfort and strength, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Jeannette Hodge's life was a testament to the power of love and faith in action. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering belief in the goodness of others. We take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
