Kenneth Dale Chastain, born on September 29, 1953, in Niles, Michigan, passed away surrounded by the love of his family and the many memories he created throughout his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kind spirit and easygoing nature touched everyone who knew him.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Diva (Staton) and Harry Chastain. His siblings Beverly Chastain, Eddie Chastain, and Regina “Jean” Pallas. He is survived by his wife, Judith Anne (Forray) Chastain, whom he married on May 17, 1980, and with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion and companionship. He also leaves behind his daughters, Sheila Snyder, and Stephanie Martin, his sister Pat McCarty as well as his best friend of over 50 years Keith Nelson. Kennys legacy continues through his grandchildren, Ashia Proia, Kory Martin, Louie Perkins, Erma Martin, and Rhyan Perkins, and his great-grandchildren, Chance Proia, Johnathan Proia, Alivia Proia, Aubree Proia, and Kaden Martin. Also surviving is his daughter Kelli Volbrecht and grandson Wesley Marmon.

Ken spent his working years as a press operator in the refrigeration industry, where he was known for his steady work ethic and dependable nature. He took pride in doing his job well and was respected by those who worked alongside him. He retired from Tyler Refridgeration after 25 years of employment. His life reflected the same qualities he brought to his family and friends, including loyalty, patience, and a genuine care for others.

Outside of work, Ken enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. He loved baseball and enjoyed coaching, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He also enjoyed bowling, cooking, fishing, dancing and collecting Budweiser memorabilia. He especially looked forward to vacationing anywhere warm, where he could relax and enjoy time away. Ken was easy going, well loved by everyone, and had a way of making people feel comfortable in his presence.

Those who knew Ken will remember him as loving, kind, and funny. He had a warm personality and a gift for bringing smiles to those around him. His sense of humor, gentle heart, and steady presence made him a cherished part of his family and community. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Kenny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. His life was one of devotion, hard work, and love, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

The family is especially grateful to Linda, Kenny's dear friend who always made him smile even on his hardest days. The family appreciates her unwavering support and kindness during this time.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Ken’s honor and memory to the Niles Moose Lodge or Berrien County Cancer Services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, Michigan. A funeral service will be held on Friday April 24 at Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs at 12:00 noon. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon before the service. Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
