Marvin Richard LaCourt, was born March 23, 1935, at 10:55am in the house where he would live for six years in Oconto, Wisconsin. Marvin passed away peacefully at his home in Eau Claire, Michigan on November 1, 2025.
Marvin’s work ethic was instilled at a young age as a hardworking “farm kid.” This ethic continued as a graduate of Wisconsin Academy, Andrews University, and Western Michigan University.
While at Andrews University, he met and married the love of his life Barbara Ann Kasischke, their marriage flourished for 66 happy years.
After serving in the Army, Marvin spent 34 years as an 8th-grade teacher in four Seventh-day Adventist Schools. Teaching brought him much joy, and he cherished the many contacts over the years from his “forever students”.
In retirement, he enjoyed his garden, birds, and baking, but his greatest joy was found in his grandchildren. No one cheered louder nor was prouder than he was in the accomplishments of his 4 beloved grandchildren.
Marvin also enjoyed time with friends and relatives, as well as traveling with them.
His kindness, generosity, and witty, dry sense of humor will be missed by many.
Marvin is survived by his wife Barbara, sons Daniel (Leisa Paustian), Greg (Lori), grandchildren Cameron (Hannah), Ethan (Lexi), Cesiley, and Eliese, and great-grandchildren Liam, and Landon.
