Berrien Springs

Paul Andrew Arnold, a kind, gentle, and wise Christian man, was born on November 15, 1931, in Montrose, Pennsylvania, and passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Berrien Springs, Michigan, from natural causes.

He was born to the late Andrew Dewey and Alice (Hawley) Arnold.

He entered the U.S. Army and served as a medic during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1954. Paul earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, an achievement that prepared him for a long and faithful career. He served in accounting roles before becoming an elementary school teacher serving at small Seventh-day Adventist schools in Pennsylvania. After six years of teaching, he worked the remainder of his working life collecting monthly premium payments for the United Life Insurance Company. He retired from United Life in the early 1990s. He enjoyed his monthly meeting with his clients. He moved to Berrien Springs, Michigan, in the mid-1990s and volunteered for 20 years at the Neighbor to Neighbor community service center serving as their treasurer.

On August 14, 1955, Paul married Doris E. Heck at a ceremony in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Their 70-year marriage is a lasting testimony to love, commitment, and shared faith. Together they built a life centered on family, Christian service, and devotion to one another. Paul and Doris were members of Pioneer Memorial Church, where they volunteered in several ministries for many years.

Paul enjoyed music, camping, and spiritual matters, interests that brought him joy and inspiration throughout his life. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life and found happiness in activities that allowed him to connect with others, to be of service to them, and enjoy God’s creation.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, George, Alan, and Florence Arnold.

Paul is survived by his wife, Doris Arnold of Berrien Springs; his two daughters, Debbie Norman and her husband, Richard, of San Clemente, California, and Diane Ford and her husband, Jim, of Berrien Springs; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He cherished his family deeply, and his love for them was evident in the way he lived, served, and cared for those entrusted to him.

In keeping with Paul’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Adventist World Radio. https://plannedgiving.awr.org/memorials-and-tribute-gifts.
