Rita Lynn (McKenzie) Wright, 62, of Berrien Springs, Michigan, passed away at home, on June 22, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1964, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and lived a life filled with love, kindness, faith, and a spirit of adventure that touched everyone who knew her.

Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Jamie Scott Wright, whom she married on October 28, 1983, in Frostburg, Maryland. Together they shared many years of marriage built on faith, commitment, and devotion to family. She also leaves behind her two sons, Jamie Marcus Wright and his wife Shirlyn, and Jared Scott Wright, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jordynn and Tori Wright, who brought great joy to her life.

She is also survived by her siblings, Bernard McKenzie and his wife Judy, Albert McKenzie and his wife Laverne, Darlene Buxton and her husband Jimmy, Doug McKenzie and his wife Mary, Kenneth McKenzie and his companion Brenda, and Beth Ann Magruder and her husband John. Also survived by sisters-in-laws Roxy Berens, (Rick), Shannon Miller, (Jim), Huey Campbell, (Jason).

Rita treasured the bonds of family and carried a deep love for those closest to her throughout her life.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Wayne McKenzie and Donna Lee McKenzie, and by her siblings Gary McKenzie and her half-brother Mike. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she honored her family through the way she lived each day with grace and compassion.

Rita worked as an assistant teacher at Andrews University Crayon Box, where her gentle nature and caring heart were a blessing to the children and families she served. She found meaning in helping others and in creating a warm and encouraging environment for those around her. Her work reflected the same patience and kindness that defined her life beyond the classroom.

A Christian, Rita lived her faith openly and sincerely. She loved sharing Jesus with others and sought to encourage those around her through her words and actions. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and it guided her through life with hope and strength.

Rita enjoyed scenic vacations, camping, photography, gardening, canning, and spending time with her family. She appreciated the beauty of God’s creation and found joy in simple, meaningful moments. Whether she was capturing a special memory through her camera lens, tending to her garden, or enjoying time with loved ones, she embraced life with a loving, kind, and adventurous spirit.

Those who knew Rita will remember her for her warmth, her generosity, and the genuine care she showed to others. She had a way of making people feel valued and loved, and her presence brought comfort and joy to many. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
