Roger William Weir Jr., passed away on September 3, 2026, in St. Joseph, Michigan, at the age of 79. He was born on March 2, 1947, in Sodus, Michigan, and lived a life marked by hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the people he loved.

Roger was born to the late Roger William Sr. and Betty (Snyder) Weir. He grew up in the Sodus area and graduated from Benton Harbor High School, where he began building the foundation for a life defined by determination and practicality. Those who knew him best would describe him as handy, interesting, and wise, qualities that served him well throughout his life and made him a trusted presence among family, friends, and neighbors.

On November 23, 1967, Roger married Denise J. Bolton in Benton Harbor, Michigan, beginning a marriage that would become an important part of his life. Together they shared years of memories, family traditions, and the everyday moments that give a life its meaning. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Weir Sr. and Betty Weir-Schaenfeld.; his wife, Denise Weir; and two brothers, Gary and Alan Elsner. Their memories remained a part of him throughout his life.

Roger worked as a meat cutter for many years at local groceries in his early career; He worked most of his career as a furnace repairman for Bosch, where he was known for his skill, dependability, and strong work ethic. He took pride in doing a job well and was respected for the knowledge he brought to his work. Whether solving a difficult problem or lending a hand, Roger had a practical way about him that made people rely on him and appreciate his steady presence.

Outside of work, Roger enjoyed a life centered around the outdoors and the simple pleasures that came with it. He loved hunting and fishing, and he treasured time spent at his cabin in Baldwin, Michigan. He was an outdoorsman through and through, and he found joy in the quiet, familiar rhythms of nature. He also had a long-standing interest in drag racing and street racing before it was legal, reflecting a spirited side that matched his love of engines, speed, and the excitement of the open road.

Roger is survived by his two sons, Roger (Robin) Weir of St. Joseph and Rory (Ann) Weir of Crown Point, Indiana. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; all of whom brought him pride and joy. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Carol Ann Dominion of Benton Harbor, John (Candy) Weir of Arizona, Carin (John) Graves of California, Detra (Toda) Petrov of California, and Mike Schaenfeld, Jr. of Sodus, Michigan, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him with affection and respect.
