Saundra Lee Clayton, 87, of Eau Claire, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026.

Born on October 7, 1938, in Dayton, Ohio, Saundra was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Arnold Griffith and Reva May (Fisher) Griffith. Saundra was a devoted wife of 47 years to Gerald Lee Clayton of Dayton, Ohio, who preceded her.

Saundra lived a life marked by love, resilience, and devotion to her family. Saundra was a strong Christian of faith and loved her lord. Enjoyed watching her Christian shows, national news and weather. She enjoyed listening to her Christian music and the old classics. She was an avid reader of the bible, history and current events. She enjoyed doing research of any kind but especially enjoyed her Native American lineage. In high school she was captain of the debate team and competed all over the state of Ohio. As she finished high school she was able to work for Gem City Bank in Dayton, Ohio in the mortgage & deeds department and scored higher than the owner of the bank to land the job. She loved anything NASA or space. Saundra loved playing solitaire on her computer. Some of her favorite sayings were: “God be with you”, “It's OK”, “I love you”.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Mark (Jennifer) Clayton, Daniel (Andra) Clayton, and John (Kathy) Clayton. Saundra had 6 grandchildren: Matthew Dean (Heather) Clayton, Paige Clayton, Michael Clayton, Ryan Clayton, Myles Clark Clayton, Bryan Connor Clayton. She had 2 great-grandchildren: Wesley Matthew Clayton, and Emmett Flynn Clayton.

Saundra was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Arnold and Reva May (Fisher) Griffith. Daughter-in-law, Vicky Jean (Card) Clayton.

Those who knew Saundra well, will remember her for her love of; The Great Lakes of Michigan's Petoskey Stones & Agates, Wild Daisies & Dark Purple French Lilacs, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York and their famous Red Velvet Cake recipe that Saundra replicated to perfection!

Her love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Saundra will be laid to rest at Shanghai Cemetery.
