This world lost a legend on April 7, 2023 at 6:13 p.m. as Starley Eugene Baker, surrounded by his loved ones, left this earth, and was greeted into the beautiful gates of his heavenly home by God, and his daughter (Corlen) and loved ones passed.
Starley was born March 22, 1951 and lived his life as an example of God’s love and word as he sang praises to the Lord until his last breath. He was a man of love, honor, loyalty, spiritual guidance and humbleness. All who knew him thought he’d be here forever. Now we are left with all of the wonderful memories (and jokes) as his legacy lives on through us all.
Starley leaves behind his beautiful wife of nearly 53 years, Lisa Baker of Baroda; daughters: Pamela (Travis) Morris of Stevensville, Heather (Adam) Benson of Cassopolis, Starr Lee Baker of Baroda; son-in-law, David Roberts of Gallatin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces and church family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Corlen Jean Baker-Roberts; his parents; and other loved ones.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Full Gospel Assembly Church in Berrien Springs, with visitation 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will also be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Allred Funeral Home, Berrien Springs, and messages and memories may be shared at www.allredfuneralhome.com. Memorial donations may be made to Full Gospel Assembly Church.
Starley graduated from Niles High School in 1969. He was voted in as pastor of Full Gospel Assembly, where he served for 37 years. He had a TV ministry called “Revival Fires”, and he started a street ministry in Benton Harbor “CIA – Compassion in Action”. He served as a state board member at Pentecostal Church of God for 35 years.
